Collection: Alessio Guarda
The artistic research of Alessio Guarda is based on the critics of the contemporary anthropocentric age and its non-neutral relation with the ecosystem. Humans perceive themselves as the central force of the natural system, neglecting the fact that, in reality, they are mere extras within it. However, through their perspective, technologies, and narratives, humans trigger a chain of reactions that have a great impact on the natural system. In his painting, Guarda depicts aerial views and the macro details of redefined anatomical landscapes which become deconstructed and multiplied in a series of different layers. The assemblage of shapes enhances the synthetic and polluted nature of the landscapes, in which animal, vegetal, and cybernetic elements melt together. By using painting as the main medium, the artist is able to envision an unstable landscape made of harmonious silhouettes and stark fluid shades. Guarda realises a hybrid habitat that exists somewhere between the before and the after of a catastrophe.
